What is the relationship between SAMR & TLC?
SAMR: TLC:
Substitution Teaching
Augmentation Learning
Modification Communication
Redefinition
Two different concepts but also both have strong similarities. The similarities that SAMR and TLC has is that they both integrate technology into the classroom and the lessons that the teachers provide for their students. TLC focuses more on the tools that can be used while SAMR focuses more on how to incorporate the technology and tools in the classroom. When it comes down to it the biggest similarity that they have is a way to help students to be educated and to flourish in the classroom with technology.
How can the SAMR model assist you in integrating with intention?
Well to begin, I loved how SAMR helped me get a understanding on how to integrate technology my classroom. Technology is around and it won’t leave us until we go back to the Stone Age, can’t say that’s gonna be anytime soon. With all the technology we might as well involve it in our curriculum. The “how-to” is the hard part. Some pieces of technology replace all aspects of education, which can be beneficial but I will want to be picky on which things I want to replace since I don’t want to ruin what’s already perfect.
Easily, it would be this coffee anthology that dumbs down SAMR for people like me (easy on the comments, I know I’m not dumb). These kinds of graphs really help me understand what the concept is. I will always seek these out when I’m understanding a new concept because the waves are detailed and help me visualize things. I’m a visual learner so the coffee works. Even though I don’t even drink coffee, I still like it.
Christian,
ReplyDeleteAnother person who used the coffee analogy. We love to see it! Hahaha
It seems like we are all finding ourselves pretty comfortable with the modification level. It seems like a great goal to strive for! I appreciate that you mentioned it helping students find a way to do something easier.
Thanks for sharing!
