When I was first asked to make a blog for One of my teaching classes in my bachelor's, I was not too thrilled. However, after working with that easily accessible and versatile platform that is blogger.com, I ended up enjoying expressing my thoughts and communicating through my other peers with blogger.com. I feel like I am on Sharktank as I pitch this website but it is a good website to use with all of your future students.  Ease of use Like I said earlier,blogger.com is very easy to use. There are no save buttons at all, so you can throw away the anxiety that you have if you think that you didn’t save your most recent document. Everything is saved all the time. Adding pictures is never easier with the site, I can’t tell you how many times it is more difficult to apply images and pictures to Google docs. It’s actually insane how easy it is to do work on this website.  Versatility I see blogger as a website that is used to expressed one’s feelings. I find this to be beneficial ...

Kahoot is a simple yet effective tool to use in the classroom to help students learn or assess. I believe most people know how this works, but some don't give it too much thought. I thought it was just for children until I saw my professor use it in my Shakespeare class during my bachelor's. No matter how old or young you are, I believe all students and teachers can find some likelihood to use it in the classroom for its fun and effective use to teach.  The use of Kahoot is stated on their website:  Kahoot! is a cloud-based quiz platform that is ideal for students and teachers. Since the game-based platform allows you to create new quizzes from scratch, it's possible to be creative and offer bespoke learning options for students. ..  Millions of teachers and students unleash the magic of learning with Kahoot!. Create your own Kahoot in minutes or choose from 100+ million ready-to-play games. Engage students virtually with our distance learning features, play in class, an...

Explain your feelings after this first week of class and establish one learning goal for the course. This first week of class was difficult. Think about where I come from; I finished with my masters and got my certificate for teacher and then finish student teaching and the only thing I am set upon now is finding a job. But wait, I still need to do classes. I am try to be honest, and doing classes when I’ve already gotten my certificate when I have more important things to do doesn’t give me the incentive to do these classes. However, I am also respectful for my professors and fellow educators. So of course I’m going to do the work but the passion fire of doing it has been smothered by other important tasks. I would say an important learning goal for me throughout these next few weeks is to be dedicated to the work and be able to turn things on time without upsetting too many people.  Describe your initial thoughts about the tool, Slack. Do you see how it could be used in your own ...

Reflection #4

Throughout this course and learning about middle school and the strings attached to it, I would want to teach in this arena.  At first, I was hesitant about teaching in middle school, because of all the things I went through during my time. Yet I have learned a lot in this course. Middle schoolers have to go to school are going to go through a lot, and I would like to be there to help them because of what I’ve learned in this course.      If I were to teach in middle school, the common fear that would resonate in there would be a failure. Not just the failure of my teaching, but failure of helping my students. As a teacher, I want to be there for them and if I were to fail them I would not be able to cope with that. Middle school is a very serious and tough time in a student's development, and as a middle school teacher, I need to put in all my effort to help them out.

Reflection       To be a culturally responsive teacher, you need to know that you must treat your students equally. You cannot grade them any differently or treat them any differently. I can connect as to my time as a camp counselor when we have kids from foreign countries come over to our camp. If I had some of them in my cabin I will give them the same amount of attention I would give to the other campers. I just feel like to be a culturally responsive educator you need to treat everyone the same, yet it could be very scary. My biggest fear of being culturally responsive is being racist. In m...

Reflection       The readings that stood out this week were my literature resources for my literature review. I first went into this week not knowing much about the brain development that occurs in adolescents. Now, I have attained a good amount of knowledge. I knew the brain did not fully develop until the age of 25, but I did not know that myelin had a critical role in this, as well as the prefrontal cortex. It is funny because my nickname at the camp I worked at was “Cortex”. Overall, the biggest portion of my knowledge from this week has to go to “ Adolescent Brain Development: Current Research and the Impact on Secondary School Counseling Program s ” (Roatens, 2012). This is a paper I will keep in mind as I progress through this prog...
