My First Graphic Novel

I get this feeling that people believe that reading a book with pictures in it isn’t considered a book that should be read in high school or colleges, and I would respectfully disagree with that. In fact I might go as far as saying that we future teachers and professors should push students of tomorrow to read graphic novels. Yes, they are quick read and they tend to have pictures in them, but there is much more into graphic novels. Such as its benefits for visual learners, great depth in language and the use of many mediums. My first graphic novel that I received was called Batman: Year One. Even as a kid, with not much knowledge on literature, I could tell that this wasn’t just a comic book. This was literature at its finest. This story made me into the nerd I am today, even I can tell that at a young age that this graphic novel does such a great job capturing the corruption of Gotham city with realistic attributes that you don’t see that much in comic books at the time.
